"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link!"
These guiding principles meant that we had to have an internal production quality assurance system right from the time we started manufacturing high-quality chain. The award of the H1 stamp to RUD in
1953 involved the first audit ever held at RUD. The same also applied to the approval of our hoisting chains manufactured in accordance with DIN 5684, which was awarded to us by the trade association
in 1972. At the end of the 1980s, we introduced our quality management system under the DIN/ISO 9000 ff standard. RUD set up a QM system in accordance with the DIN/ISO 9001 standard which covered all
the required processes and rules. In December 1992, we became the first company in our industry to be awarded this certificate by the TÜV (German Technical Control Board).
When the ISO 9001 quality management standard was revised to a process-oriented approach at the end of 2000, RUD modified its quality management system accordingly. At the same time, the QM system and the environmental management system, which had been developed in the meantime under DIN/ISO 14001, were merged to form an integrated quality and environmental management system under ISO 9001/ISO 14001. This integrated QM/EM system was certified by the TÜV in the summer of 2001.
In 2005, we gained recertification of our integrated QM/EM system, while at the same time amending the environmental management system to comply with the updated standard ISO 14001:2004.
